As told by James Richard Bever on February 24, 1991.
On Sunday night, or if it had rained, we'd get together, Grandpa Baer, Doc, and Bob. We'd have a few coins, quarters or something like that. The first thing you know, we'd get in a card game. We'd get to betting a little, ya know. We'd play poker or some kind of card game. We'd have a big time, sit around for 2 or 3 hours. The women, they'd be doing the dishes after a big dinner, and we'd be playing cards. (They'd do the dirty work.) Smoke a few cigars, drink a can of beer or 2 or 3 or 4. Well, we'd do that once in awhile, but not very often. That would break the monotony. Cigar smoke would get kind of thick in there. That would be the only time we'd smoke.
