The Snow of January 2009
Here's a video I took of our snowfall: [vimeo]http://www.vimeo.com/2995680[/vimeo]
Happiness is:
I heard this song on the radio last night and realized I hadn't heard it in a long time. Mac Davis
Guitar lessons
As part of my 101 things in 1001 days, I wanted to "officially" learn how to play the guitar. I started taking lessons on January 13.
101 Things in 1001 Days
101 Things in 1001 Days is the brainchild of Michael Green, a blogger and developer from NZ. He created a list of tasks to achieve within a defined period, and the idea quickly spread around the web as a tool for helping people accomplish their goals.

There’s a big brown cloud in the city and the country’s side is sin.
The price of life is too high to give up and it’s gotta come down again.
When the world wide war is over and done and the dream of peace comes true,
we’ll all drinkin’ that free bubble ub and eating that rainbow stew.
When they find out how to burn water and the gasoline car is gone,
when an airplane flies without any fuel and the sunlight heats our homes.
One of these days when the air clears up and the sun comes shining through,
we’ll all be drinkin’ that free bubble ub and eatin’ that rainbow stew.
Eatin’ rainbow stew in a silver spoon, underneath that sky of blue;
we’ll all be drinkin’ that free bubble ub and eatin’ that rainbow stew.
We don’t have to get high to get happy, just think about what’s in store.
When people start doin’ what they ought to start doing then we won’t be booing no more.
When a president goes through the White House door and does what he says he’ll do,
we’ll all be drinkin’ that free bubble ub and eatin’ that rainbow stew.

Sweet and high at the break of dawn
Simple tune that you can hum along too
I remember there was a time
When I used to sing for you
Knew all the words to the popular songs
With the radio on full volume
I remember there was a time
When I used to sing for you
Forget the chorus, you’re the bridge
The words and music to everyday I’ve lived
There’s nothing, I wouldn’t give
For one more time, when I can sing for you
Soft and low when the evening comes
Holding you, sleeping in my arms
I remember there was a time
When I used to sing for you

“We need to get back to making stuff, based on real engineering not just financial engineering. We need to get back to a world where people are able to realize the American Dream — a house with a yard — because they have built something with their hands, not because they got a “liar loan” from an underregulated bank with no money down and nothing to pay for two years. The American Dream is an aspiration, not an entitlement.”

I have found myself singing this song all day today. I heard it on 92.3 this morning on the way to work so that’s the main reason, but I also watched Dan in Real Life recently (I enjoyed the movie) which featured this song. I’ve included the Steve Carell and Dane Cook version of the song from the movie

“SHRILL BAD, DUSKY GOOD: No man can happily work or vote for a woman whose voice sounds like a mom or wife yelling at him. Whether running a Fortune Five Hundred company or running for office, women should practice speaking like Kathleen Turner in Body Heat. (If you have small children present, rent Who Framed Roger Rabbit and check out Jessica Rabbit.) POWER WORDS: Down through the ages there have been secret words and phrases that a select group of women have known and used to give them control over men. Use them wisely and you’ll be on the other side of that glass ceiling before you know it. A short list includes: panties, huge, amazing and “anything you want, just hurry.” For increased effectiveness, say these power words like Kathleen Turner. BOOBS: If you got’ em, flaunt’ em. If you don’t got’ em, buy’ em. (CAUTION: This will cause other women to hate you. Do not despair. Once you and your terrific rack are running things, you can fire the jealous bitches.) POLITICALLY CORRECT FLIRTING: There is no such thing. That being said, if, by subtle words or actions, you can make a man feel sexually viable, he will act like a fool and you can steal his job. If you think that’s cruel, you’re not ready to break through the glass ceiling and should instead consider marrying a fat guy with hedge fund money and a history of confusing his erection pills with his heart medication.” Mr. Misogyny’s Tips For Breaking Through the Glass Ceiling

“So now I’m slowing it down and I’m looking around
And I’m lovin’ this town and I’m doing alright
Ain’t worried about nothing except the man I wanna be
I’m thinking it’s time to be livin’ the rhyme
When I’m singing a song about nothing but right
And it’d sure be nice if you would roll with me”
